FAQ
To answer some of your most common questions and myths about granite please read
our frequently asked questions.
Q: Does it stain?
A: Stone is naturally porous. However, due to excellent sealers combined with the density of natural stone, staining is not a common problem associated with granite. To ensure excellent stain resistant qualities, it is recommended that a sealer is applied every 6-12 months.
However if a stain does occur, there are a number of removal methods. (www.stoneworld.com)

A: Countertops should be resealed every 6-12 months, depending on the level of use.
To clean granite; we recommend using any light soapy cleaner. From time to time a razor or fine
steel wool can be used to remove stubborn sticky substances. We do not recommend heavy chemical and
abrasive cleaners such as Ajax. Those types of cleaners will break down the sealer's effectiveness.
Q: Does it scratch?
A: Because of its hardness, granite is not easily scratched. A stainless steel knife
blade will not scratch granite.
Q: Does mold form and grow?
A: According to the center for disease and Control, and the National Institute for
Occupational Saftey and Heather in 2003, there were no recorded cases where a bacterium was a concern
with granite. Granite has been used for hundreds of years in the kitchen, with no reported concerns.
It is a myth that was created by the man-made products we see today, to gain an advantage.
Q: Can I put hot pots on the surface?
A: Yes, granite can withstand pots and pans up to 900 degrees Fahrenheit. Also, a distinct
advantage of granite is that when you are cooking, hot oil can have a tendency to melt a solid surface.
